Plans for delivering water from Syri i Kalter (Albania) to Puglia (Italy) have existed for a very long time. The request from the Italian Government to supply water from Syri i Kalter (Albania) to Puglia (Italy) was denied from the Albanian Government in 1995. But even after 1995 there were still discusions about plans to build an underwater pipeline of 80 km between two shores on the Adriatic Sea that would provide 150 million cubic meters water per year. Such amount of water would significantly fulfil the needs of requirements for drinking water in that region.
